Global Peace Index campaign was taken up for the client “Global Peace Index” by Edelam UK (Public affairs and strategic media unit) during January to May 2007, which came up with a report ranking 121 countries according to their “Peacefulness”. This is first such undertaking of its kind in the world. The analysis into each nation’s peace has considered mainly seven indicators or drivers to work out peace index, scores and ranking |

which are namely indicator information, democracy and transparency, international openness, demographics, education, culture and material wel being. For each of the indicator , number of sub-indicators have been identified and scores given to determine the rank of each country. Peace index scores from 1 to 5 where 1 is the most peaceful country. Two sub-components weighted indices from the group of indicators each adopted (a) a measure of how at peace internally a country is (b) a measure of how at peace externally. The overall composite score and index was formulated by applying a weight of 60 percent to measure of internal peace and 40 percent for external peace. The analysis of 121 nation’s peace and their ranking of global peace index (GPI) is placed below.
