1) MONTH OF
“SUSTAINABLITY”2009
“SUSTAINABLITY”2009 is the third month
of PEACE CALENDAR-28days 13 moon months civil peace calendar
corresponding to September 20,to October 17,2009 of present
Gregorian Calendar. ”Awareness” ,the second month of Peace Calendar
enriches mind-heart entity and acts as a stimulant for both matter
and
antimatter for universal consciousness development to satisfy more
and more material desires linked to the principles of recycling through
the process |

of sustainability that determine life-duration of an event and /or
object. .Auto-functioning of NATURE(ECOSYSTEMS) without human
intervention determine the life duration of an event, Once awakened,
mind set changes in tune with laws of Nature and program the
activities to meet the present and future needs through mental
stability ,peace and happiness. Sustainability subdue the satiation
of limitless material desires and promotes a state of mind that not
only fulfill the present needs of humanity with a sense of enough
ness but also incorporates thoughts and actions those will take care
of future; making the human existence sustainable in mother earth.
The psychic of humans in the month of “sustainability’ should
explore thought, emotion and actions to build a bridge between
present and future on a relationship built on rock-based
foundation..

Limit of “renewablity” needs to be determined to create
equilibrium between the future and present .The future is
the outcome of present activity. Adopting an extremely
high material life-style pushing aside the values of
spirituality will lead to an unsustainable future .Today
everyone is extremely engaged and busy to earn more and
more “:money and Matter” at the cost of
sacrificing the values of spirituality and humanitarian
relationship. Under such situation, “individualistic”
mind set spreads like cancer affecting adversely
metabolic equilibrium of body system. The craze for
individual body’s need and greed overshadows rather delink

the mind and sprit transforming moral purity
and attitude of inwardness which
direct to follow the foot
steps of Dinosaurs. Moral purity and
attitude of inwardness are essential to be
inculcated in human mind and spirit for
sustainability .Otherwise the word
“sustainability” will remain only in paper
documents. Thus sustainability and
sustainable development will become a part
of highly materialistic culture .Culture of
sustainability will not take
roots and can only grow with spirituality and Peace.
In the “Spiriton”, the fundamental particle
of spirituality, the peace consciousness
energy being the prime mover and the nucleus
of Spiriton need to be activated to acquire
Sustainable Development. |

Sustainable life-style linked to Science of
Spirituality integrating systems of science,
psychology, philosophy, peace, religion, etc which
is a united system of multi dimensional nature of
man in the universe. As every individual is a minute
fraction of universal Absolute Energy of

well as science of sustainability collectively
design a mechanism that converge creative energy,
peace, consciousness, space and time, psychic

development, meditation, enlightenment and meaning
of life with products of matter-security of
all kinds for healthy survival, comfort with a sense
of enough ness and happiness. Such products when
converge with truth, order and harmony brings about
and tune the body to a spiritual and peaceful
entity. |

SPIRITUALITY, PEACE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Spirituality,
peace and sustainable development go hand in hand and are
concurrent. From “Spirit” spirituality is derived which is a
fraction of Absolute Energy of Consciousness (AEC). It is the
highest form of energy. Spirit is absolute and infinite. It is
the truth of enlighten perspective life. It is all embracing
applicable to biotic and abiotic components of the biosphere.
Understanding powers of spirituality will enable us to go beyond barriers of
materialistic world |

to
acquire happiness through mental peace rather than satiation of material
goods/desires. It goes beyond “Time” which is an instrument of healing,
purifying and unifying. Time has come to understand spirituality by
reconnecting ourselves with Mother Nature. Spirit is life-without spirit
which is immortal, there is no life.

Today
our perception of spirituality is complex and
complicated. It is understood only in religious,
saintly and abstract manner, as a result today’s
human spiritual perception is blurred. This
orientation must change. Spirituality be simplified
to be understood and practiced by ordinary common
world citizen so that citizen can elevate himself to
a higher level of material life which is only
possible if it is based on foundation of
spirituality. Keeping this in view, I place before
the world citizens |

a
definition of spirituality-“SPIRITUALITY IS
INFINITE AND ABSOLUTE SOURCE OF CREATIVE ENERGY
WHICH IGNITES HUMAN MINDS WITH POSITIVE THINKING AND
EMOTION; ESTABLISING EQUILIBRIUM BETWEEN SPIRIT,
MIND AND BODY FOR SUSTAINABLE AND PEACEFUL MATERIAL
OUTPUTS LEADING TO PROSPERITY WITH PEACE FOR ALL
BIOTIC AND ABIOTIC COMPONENTS OF THE BIOSPHERE.”
Thus spirituality is all “Inclusive”- matter,
antimatter and peace which are inseparable
components of sustainable development. Thus
sustainable development can be materialized and
fruitful only with spirituality and peace (Peace is
an integral part of spirituality-the WHOLE is
greater sum of the parts). |

Time
has come for humanity to accept the need for
spirituality in development. A spirituality is all
inclusive-peace is only one of the parts of
spirituality and it is extremely necessary to
incorporate Peace as directly interacting positive
energy that design and run development in specific
conditions. |
|
Unfortunately for human civilization, any new
idea takes a long time to be not only recognized
and also to translate into action. For example
Sustainable Development emerged in1992, still to
be understood and applied in day to day
activities. 30 issues of Agenda 21 are just
collecting dusts at global, national and local
levels, mainly because of peace approach to
development more and more limited to summit,
conferences etc as it appears no leader of the
world really desires to understand and implement sustainable development. There is
also difficulty in arrival at consensus on the
ideas of Sustainable development and its
relationship with peace. |

About the new
definition of spirituality, I urge upon the world
citizens to accept with full consensus, so that
concept of spirituality can be adopted and applied in day to
day human activities. It will help us to live in harmony
with each other and enable everybody to work together for
common good. This will put an auto-limitation of “greed”
and limit it to only satisfaction of “’need”. Such
perception will lead to sustainable living. The knowledge
and value of spirituality, peace and sustainable development
should be imparted concurrently from school level to highest
form of education. The seed of this spirituality, peace and
sustainability as the “one and one’ idea which must be introduced
in the children’s minds to flower and blossom later in their
lives. |

Peace after
recognizing it as a spark of Absolute Energy of Consciousness (AEC)
which begins lise with beating of heart, it is time to explore this spirituality and Peace
for application in human developing
linking to economic and social, education and health,
environmental stewardship, meeting basic needs in food, nutrition,
livelihood and shelter etc. Further we have to find out its role in
government and public participation. Such determinants must be adopted as
spiritual based indicators at the policy level, which are to build a
rock-based solid and sustainable foundation for human
civilization. |

These Determinants are broadly highlighted as (a) unity
in diversity (b) Equity and Justice, “equality of sexes” and
“independent investigation of Truth, order and Harmony. I am of
strong conviction that such policies and foundation of policies will
change the world towards positivity and result in sustainable development
with peace.

Sustainability is emerging as science along with
spirituality and peace-Dynamic interaction between
sustainability and society cannot take place without
spirituality and peace. Only then the outcome of interaction will be prosperous and peaceful, which
imply wellbeing, happiness and life satisfaction, hope
and optimism, purpose and meaning of life, higher
self-esteem, adoption of bereavement, greater social
support and less loneliness, lower rate of
depression and faster recovery from depression, lower
rate of suicides and fewer positive attitude towards suicide, less |
|
|
anxiety,
less psychosis fewer psychotic tendencies, lower rates
of alcohol and drugs use and abuse, less delinquency
and criminal activity and greater material stability and
satisfaction etc. All these material aspects of
spirituality are associated with neurochemistry; in
specific change in Dopamine level which is positively
correlated with variations in religiosity (faith).
Activation of Dopamine level influences the positive
effects of spiritual practice. Besides Dopamine,
Endorphins are a group of hormones which stimulate
spirituality and are products at the meeting point of
cerebral cortex and limbic system. Here thought are
converted into biochemical and electrical messengers.
Then shipped out to the body to spread the news.
Endorphins block
chronic pain, elevate the moods and enhance the immune
system. This along with Dopamine significantly
contributes to spirituality development. These
make your thoughts good and positive which initiate a series |

of neurochemical
and biochemical process making
one’s thought and action spiritual and
peaceful. Such thoughts and actions become
sustainable as they are linked to
spirituality and peace. There is no doubt
that spirituality and peace facilitate
sustainable development; for which it is said
that sustainable development and peace will
rise and fall together. It is time for the
humanity to establish linkages between
thirty issues of sustainable development
with peace to create a different world, free
of violence/terror and vibrating with
humanitarianism. Application of principles
of Peace Technology is the prequisite for
emerging science of Peace and sustainability
which will focus on the dynamic of
interaction between nature and society. |

Peace in sustainable development initiatives
as a science and technology was recognized
since long. “World Conservation Strategy”
published in 1980 first highlighted
sustainable yield management of renewable
resources. In 1987 Brundtland Commission’s
report “Our Common future” also highlighted
this scientific dimension of sustainable
development. In 1992 UN conference on
Environmental and Development came out with
30 issues of sustainable development in
Agenda 21. But unfortunately “Peace” was not given that |

important
in the list of actions of sustainable development. The
political will to carry out the recommendations of
Agenda 21 seems to be get weaken in International and
National level. This apathy still continues giving rise
to four crises (1) crisis in policy making (2) crisis in
world system addressing to global challenge of today (3)
crisis ridden process characterized by more poverty as a
result of intended exclusion politically as well as
economically (4) crisis of ideal and values between man
and society. All these crises lead to conflicts,
violence, terror, etc and peace is slowly and gradually
eluding mankind. |

When Peace is disturbed in the relationship
of man, society and nature, any kinds of
development becomes unsustainable and human
psychic changes towards negative thinking
and emotion leading to destruction of
life-support systems. Earth’s resources are
depleted as a result man’s social, economic
and environmental structure collapse
resulting in chaos and confusion in human
society. Spirituality and peace take back
seat where as violence of poverty, terror
and humanism r ule the biosphere. It is time to realize this and in the |

virtuality of globalization, the race
towards a mirage should stop for development
that is truly sustainable, prosperous and
peaceful. The glitters of unsustainable
globalization should give way to a path of
sustainable “humanitariasation” process
through successfully meeting the challenges
of four crises and giving chance to
spirituality, Peace and sustainable
development to rule the biosphere. |

3) GLOBAL NEWS AND VIEWS
Human Peace and Biosphere Peace are
intimately connected. Spirituality, Peace
and Sustainability are also applicable to
Biosphere Peace which deal with Global
warming, Clean Energy, clean Vehicles,
Nuclear weapon & Global Security, Scientific
Integrity and Food & Agriculture etc. Some
of these are briefly dealt below- |

Global Warming
 As
climate legislation now moves to the US
senate, and with opposition ramping up like
never before, our activists will play a
critical role this fall in ensuring that
their senators defend, strengthen, and pass
science-based climate legislation this year.
We’re also working to ensure that climate
legislation addresses the issue of tropical
deforestation, which accounts for nearly 20
percent of the world’s heat-trapping
emissions. In California, legislators moved
one step closer to closing a loophole in the
state’s ambitious plans to cut global
warming pollution. |

Clean Energy
This summer,
thanks to pressure from UCS
supporters like you, committees
in both the House and Senate
passed national renewable
electricity standards (RES)
requiring utilities to generate
an increasing amount of energy
from clean, renewable sources
such as the sun and wind. In
addition, the full House passed
an RES for the second year in a
row, this time as part of a
comprehensive climate and energy
bill. Because the RES bills were
not as strong as UCS would have
liked, UCS remains dedicated to
working this fall with activists
and ally organizations to pass a
stronger RES. |

Clean Vehicles
After
our major victories this summer,
UCS and our supporters will
continue to urge the
Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) to develop and implement
strong, scientifically-sound
fuel economy standards for cars
and trucks. We also continue to
push for a Renewable Fuel
Standard that accounts for
global warming pollution from
the entire lifecycle of biofuels—from
seed to tank. But opposition is
pushing back hard, so we will
need to continue pressuring the
EPA to uphold the science behind
global warm tying emissions from
fuel production. |

Nuclear Weapons & Global
Security
As
the Obama administration
conducts a critical nuclear
posture review this fall, which
will help shape U.S. policy for
the next 5 to 10 years, UCS and
thousands of activists are
pushing to make sure the review
embraces a new, pragmatic
approach that will make the
United States and the world more
secure. UCS along with
activists, scientists, and
allies continues to work to stop
congressional efforts to fund
unproven, costly missile defense
programs that even the Pentagon
wants to cancel and to highlight
the technical limitations of a
proposed anti-missile system in
Eastern Europe. |

Scientific Integrity
This
summer the EPA announced
improvements to the way it uses
science to assess toxic
chemicals and determine air
quality standards. UCS
supporters chose a winner in
Science Idol: the Scientific
Integrity Editorial Cartoon
Contest. And as the Obama
administration puts the final
touches on its plan to restore
scientific integrity to federal
policy making, we’re getting
ready to ensure that they put
their words into action. |

Food & Agriculture
UCS
gained new allies this summer in
our fight to keep antibiotics
working for disease treatment
when a top Food and Drug
Administration official
announced the agency’s
first-ever support of
restrictions on the use of these
drugs in the feed and water of
livestock and poultry that are
not sick. UCS also claimed
victory when the U.S. Department
of Agriculture reversed a
decision to end the collection
of pesticide use data. At the
same time, UCS continues to
counter claims by Monsanto and
other biotechnology corporations
that genetically engineered
crops increase crop yields.
